With a return to UFC looking highly likely, our team look back at the career to-date of the beast incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

Listen now on

Hailing from Suplex City, he is the beast incarnate. The conqueror. The 1 in 21-1. And until recently, he was the reigning, defending, undisputed Universal Champion. BROCK LESNAR!

Whilst his most recent run as divided opinion amongst fans, it’s hard to argue about the success Lesnar has achieved throughout his career.

A former All-American amateur wrestler, he joined WWE’s developmental program in 2000. Having excelled in Ohio Valley Wrestling, he quickly burst onto the scene of the main roster in 2002 with one Paul Heyman by his stand.

Dubbed ‘The Next Big Thing’, Lesnar would go on to have one of the most successful rookie years in wrestling history.

Three runs as WWE Champion would come in the short space of two years before Brock shockingly walked away from the sport in 2004. Fed up with the schedule, he decided to unsuccessfully try his hand at the NFL.

Then in 2008, he made the unprecedented move on switching from wrestling to mixed martial arts by joining the UFC. To the shock of many, he proved to be a box-office hit with the promotion, winning their Heavyweight Championship in just his fourth fight.

Despite his success, illness effected him in his later fights. As a result, he made the decision in late 2011 to retire from the sport. To the shock of no-one, that led to a long awaited return to wrestling and WWE in 2012 on the RAW after Wrestlemania 28.

The years since have arguably seen Lesnar cement his legacy further in the sport, although his sporadic nature of his appearances have left a sour taste in many fans mouths.

Here, David Haughney and his panel take a look back at the storied career to date of Brock Lesnar.
