Whether it be you’re the Scorpion King, fighting the Decepticons or you’re on a path to take down Thanos, there’s always excitement when a wrestler makes that transition from the squared circle to the silver screen.

Since the two things a wrestler needs most is physicality and charisma, it’s no surprise so many of them have ended up in films and TV shows. But as similar, as the two art forms are, there’s also a world of difference. It’s one thing to be able to entertain a few thousand people live. It’s completely different thing recreating that with a camera close up on you over multiple takes.

The history of professional wrestlers in films and TV shows can be traced all the way back to the 1950’s. Since then, many a grappler has tried their hand at acting outside the wrestling ring.

The 1980’s were filled with the likes of Hulk Hogan and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper gracing the silver screen with their larger than life personas. We’ve even seen the biggest stars of the Attitude Era, The Rock and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin give acting a go.
